We are Financial Advisers, Financial Planners and Investment Managers – but with a twist…
Most other Financial Advisory and Investment Management firms focus on recommending and arranging investments.
There’s nothing wrong with that. But…..in order to get people to invest with them, they tend to ‘sell’ their services on one of two promises…
- We’ll make your money grow faster.
- We’ll charge you less.
Some even claim to do both.
The problem with number 1 is that no one can guarantee that.
Markets go up. Markets go down.
You can’t control them or foresee them – no matter what you wish, or what anyone tells you.
The problem with the 2nd promise is……..as John Ruskin famously said….. “There is hardly anything in the world that cannot be made a little worse and sold a little cheaper, and those who consider price alone are that person’s lawful prey.”
We don’t make either of those promises. In fact we Tell it like it is.
- We can’t always guarantee your investments will go up.
- There are cheaper options out there.
Our real value is in managing investors’ emotions.
Stopping clients making unhelpful, knee-jerk financial and investment decisions out of fear and worry.
Managing the investor pays far more dividends than any investment management can ever do (even though we’re pretty good at that as well).
And as for price? Who wants the sole aim of their career to be that you were cheaper than the next person?

You might also be wondering why we’re offering to train someone like you from scratch, rather than recruiting somebody already experienced?
Well, the answer is mutually inclusive.
It’s easier for us to train someone in the right way (ours) from the beginning than try to reprogram someone who has been doing it the ‘wrong’ way.
So what is the right way?
The Joslin Rhodes way…
We mentioned earlier that we are Financial Advisers and Investment Managers with a twist, and the twist is that we provide a Lifestyle Financial Planning service.
We only work with clients who are at or approaching retirement and who engage with our full Lifestyle Financial Planning process which includes Life & Retirement Coaching and Planning – we don’t provide Financial Advice or Investment Management services in isolation – only as part of our full service.
There are three main roles that are involved in delivering the Joslin Rhodes Lifestyle Financial Planning process and if you’d like to be a member of our team it’s likely that your skills and experience sits within one of these roles.
Read on to see which one most feels like you.
Financial Planners do the coaching and planning work with the clients and deliver the financial advice.
They are the primary liaison with the clients and guide them through the process.
Paraplanners are the engineers and spend most of their time on using software, doing analysis, and writing technical reports to formulate the financial advice.
This is about diagnosis, analytics, and financial engineering.
This role is the glue in between the stages and the engine room of the whole process.
It’s about making sure that clients are looked after and feel the warmth and comfort of knowing that everything is going to be OK.
