Teesside University is a public university with its main campus in Middlesbrough. It was founded in 1930 and has over 20,000 students. Courses You Can Study

Teesside University offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses whether you’re a young or mature student. You can study arts and media business, mechanical engineering and digital technologies, education, law, life sciences and social sciences to name but a few.

With over 170 postgraduate degree programs in 28 subject areas and over 250 diploma and degree undergraduates in around 34 subject areas along with research degrees, Teesside is a good university offering a wide range of choice for its students.

Teesside University Accommodation

Teesside University provides self-catered rooms for first year undergraduate students. International students, postgrads, staff, and undergraduates may also stay there. In 2015, the university acquired Teesside Central, bringing its room total to 75 en-suites. The main halls of accommodation are known as Central Halls.

The University has a variety of managed living arrangements (new halls, houses, and flats). The university’s managed housing program also includes additional rooms (properties owned by private landlords but governed by the University).

Nightlife

Course Rep & Societies

Teesside University offers a wide array of student-led societies. The societies develop students’ employability, communication, people management and academic skills and improve year on year to contribute to an already fantastic student experience and university’s environment.

Net Ethical Hacking is one example of an extremely popular society that was founded by students with the aim of learning how to make the cyberworld a safer place and brought people together from all over the university.

Tabletop Gaming was another that completely stepped away from everything digital and was a society based around tabletop games be it cards, board or pen and paper, so there is something for everyone.

Is it hard to get admission in Teesside University?

The University is very selective in choosing when it comes to choosing its students. The acceptance rate for 2021/2022 was around 31%.

Students that meet the requirements criteria are always advised to apply as soon as possible.

Social Life

The students union is rated as one of the best in the country, providing great facilities in a good location, not only does it provide countless amounts of good times, it also provides a valuable student support system contributing this was alone about their tutors competencies, support system and overall university’s environment,

Middlesbrough and Teesside have a rich cultural heritage with lots to see and do. There are plenty of museums where you can learn all about the local area, the Doraemon Museum, Steam Railway Museum, as well as the Modern Institute of Modern Arts (M.I.M.A.). MIMA is an international art gallery that is now part of Teesside University. It offers space for students and links with artists and institutions from around the world.

WIth great public transport connections, it’s perfect for visiting Saltburn-by-the-sea, Whitby or even taking a hike in the Yorkshire Moors. After indulging in the culture there’s plenty to eat and drink with a vibrant nightlife that will keep you entertained for years to come.

Location

Tees Valley is the perfect place to explore the countryside and coast. Take on adventure activities and water sports. Discover pretty market towns and picturesque villages. Hop on a bike and uncover a proud industrial heritage and marvel at unexpected nature and wildlife that call the Tees Valley home.

There are plenty of transport links for cars and buses through the A19 and A66 roads. The University’s main entrance is at the site of the old Constantine College building, fronted by the Waterhouse clock tower at the intersection of Linthorpe Road and Southfield Road.

On a side note, for international students, Teesside International Airport is 13 miles away and has flight connections to many British and European airports.

Cost of Living

With the main campus based in middlesbrough, the living costs make it a very affordable place to live. Middlesbrough itself has a wide variety of shops available within the town centre that make it very easy to make your money go the extra mile, whilst also affording you the ability to pick up unique and bespoke items.

Teesside University state that you’ll need around £1,000 a month to live and be able to pay for professional fees for the duration of the course, which is nine months
