Frequently Asked Questions About Care Fees Planning

Isn’t there a cap on Care Fees?

No, there is currently no cap on care fees in the UK. Although a cap of £86,000 was proposed for October 2025, these reforms were scrapped by the new Labour Government in July 2024.

What financial support is available for Care Fees?

Financial support may be available through your local authority, depending on your circumstances. You’ll need to complete both a Care Needs Assessment and a Financial Assessment. If eligible, the council will inform you of their contribution. NHS-funded care may also be available through NHS Continuing Healthcare or NHS Funded Nursing Care.

Can I protect my assets from Care Fees?

Yes. There are legal and financial strategies, such as setting up a trust or transferring property ownership, that can help protect your assets from being used to pay for care.
