Joslin Rhodes has been operating in Teesside since 2007 and started with one man and an admin assistant.
Since then Founder and CEO, Neil Parker has taken the firm on a journey few, if any, financial advice organisations get to experience.
The business focuses solely on pension advice and retirement planning, allowing them to be a specialist in this field and put all their efforts into supporting clients in this area.
Having previously occupied small, rented offices, the team at Joslin Rhodes took over the lease of a 10,000+ square foot unit in a prominent position on Concorde Way, Preston Farm during 2016. At the time it was an empty, dusty shell befitting of its previous life as a warehouse for Charles Clinkard.
Work began on the building in October 2016 with the team of 13 staff moving in during January 2017. They welcomed their new neighbours Porsche shortly after.
A detailed renovation with a total remodeling of the space and architect styling has completely transformed the building into luxurious client meeting rooms, welcome lounge and office space.
Named The Planning Rooms, the office combines homeliness with some rugged exposed steel features to reflect the industrial heritage of Teesside.
Interior Architect, Rachel McLane was shortlisted for The Northern Design Awards for the Best Commercial Interior Design Project for her work on The Planning Rooms.
Whilst blending in with many of the office buildings at Preston Farm, the exterior gives little clue as to the gorgeous interior or indeed the life changing work that goes on inside.
Since moving in, the team has grown the client base with an increase from £70 million of client funds under advice, to a figure that is now approaching £110 million. In the last year Joslin Rhodes has employed 27 local people across all it’s teams including Financial Planners, Paraplanners, Client Services, Finance and Marketing. It’s graduate trainee programme has given the opportunity of professional qualifications and experience to a dozen individuals.
Committing to a 15-year lease they are now preparing for the next phase of growth and the development of the first floor will take place during 2018, with further significant investment. Joslin Rhodes has plans to double in size over the coming year adding to the team and client base.
Neil Parker said “I am really proud of what we have created here. This is a first for Teesside, there isn’t another advice firm like ours. I had a vision to create a home from home for our clients. They come here and feel relaxed. Our welcome lounge enables them to sit on a comfortable sofa and have a catch up with the staff they’ve got to know. Then when it comes to the serious business of discussing their life and finances, they do this in a private meeting space that is designed to feel like a good old kitchen table, after all isn’t that where all the world is put to rights?”
He continues “We love working with ordinary folk, we aren’t for premiership footballers and multi-millionaires. I grew up on Teesside where you work ‘til you drop and save for a rainy day. Times have changed, and I’m passionate about making sure everyone has access to the financial planning that will free them to love the retirement they’ve spent their lives working towards”.

We’re Independent Financial Advisers, with a difference. We specialise in Pension Advice and Retirement Planning. Our focus is on our clients as individuals and what they want from life. Then we work out how to use their financial assets to get them there.

We are also one of the few Pension Transfer Specialists in the area. This means we are qualified and regulated to offer advice on certain pension types known as Final Salary or Defined Benefit. Not every firm is and clients need to ensure they are seeking advice from a trusted adviser, we conduct all transfer work in house.
Our mission is for clients to know that everything is going to be okay. Whether they want to retire early, help out their children or grandchildren or take that once in a lifetime trip. We believe passionately that when you’ve worked your whole life you should have the confidence to enjoy the rewards in later life.
We want to redefine the definition of retirement and help our clients to see that this really is the best time of their lives and they should enjoy it to the full. Fear holds most people back, not their finances, our job is to remove that fear by proving their financial assets are enough, whatever that may be for their circumstances. Our process does exactly that.
