Existing pension providers

Any old frozen pension plan should be reviewed however there are those that perhaps should be looked at more urgently than others. These can be broken into two groups,

Firstly, insurance companies that either no longer exist, or no longer sell new pensions. Although your money will still be invested, the returns tend to be a lot lower than the average because the investment funds are closed funds. This means that there is only money going out of the fund, and none going in so the pot is dwindling.

Secondly are those providers who may traditionally have higher charges or lower performance, particularly the banks and pension companies that only sell their plans through their own sales people.
